Detania Layla’s Sapphire of Borderclan
04.06.94 ~ 31.05.07
There are dogs that touch your lives for all sorts of reasons and my very special Layla touched the hearts of all who knew her. On the last day of May 2007 she slipped peacefully into everlasting sleep in my arms.
Words cannot express the loss I feel - everything I do connected with dogs is thanks to her. She was my introduction to sheep work, my introduction to agility (and, briefly, flyball) and my introduction to the show ring. She was the first to carry the Borderclan name – as a friend said to me – she was the mummy of them all.
She lives on through her offspring – and those she regarded as 'hers' – notably Freddie the little lad who came here lost and frightened and who learnt to be a puppy again with the help of 'Granny Lou'.
Thank you Layla for giving me so much – run free at the Rainbow Bridge until we meet again.
To know her was to love her.
